Before conception, many who are trying to get pregnant are told to improve their nutrition for their baby’s health and development. A lot of times that advice includes adding more folic acid to your diet, but how about iodine? With the decline in salt consumption or the switch to sea salt, iodine levels in several countries have dropped. Now, many health care providers will tell you that with our modern diet that isn’t a concern. I beg to differ! If you look at the number of children now being born with autism or ADD or ADHD, wouldn’t you want to take every possible precaution to ensure a healthy baby?
This article by Ciara Wright is from Ireland, however, I believe this is a world-wide issue. You can read it below.
I included this article by Megan O’Rourke, where she shares the devastation she felt when her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. She also notes that Alzheimer’s and thyroid disease have similar symptoms. She also shares how she found a support group to help her deal with her mother’s disease. I wanted to share this information: my partner’s mother had dementia. It’s a heart-breaking disease for a family to go through.
Have a great weekend!
