Dr. Weil’s thyroid health advice is some of the most sought after in the alternative medicine world. The doctor offers advice for thyroid health with tips on medicine, diet and alternative approaches. His recommendation for thyroid hormone replacement medicine is a combination called Thyroloar, which is a mix of T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine) hormones similar to the natural mixture produced by the thyroid. His advice follows what most functional, alternative, or natural health care practitioners believe: that is most of the patients needing thyroid hormones do better health-wise and symptom-wise when taking a combination of T3 and T4 hormones. This definitely applies to those of us who have had our thyroid removed or have had RAI. The main point to take away is the knowledge that there is a combination of thyroid hormones out there: either synthetic or natural, with or without any additives that will work for you! You just have to find it!

This article on Oncologynurseadvisor.com shares a study on the lack of choice when receiving RAI. I agree, more discussion needs to take place before treatment is started.
I thought this was interesting. This article from the researchers at the University of Cincinnati shared the existence of thyroid disease 2000 years ago in the Ohio Valley. Who knew?
Have a great weekend!
