Coconut oil has surprising benefits for hypothyroidism and a few of them are amazing. I have heard many the negatives about this oil, but most of those negative views come from sources that I believe don’t have my best interests at heart. Now, to be fair, I will admit that I didn’t always think coconut was all that good for you. However, I have learned a few things: I use this oil for most of meals I prepare, as olive oil doesn’t do well in higher heat, I use it for oil pulling(I know that takes some getting used to, but I have less inflamation, bleeding, and better breath). If you have not heard of oil pulling, you swish about a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth for about 20 minutes, then spit out. The oil pulls out the toxins in your body. Be sure to spit in the garbage, as the oil will solitify and clog your drains! I added a link below from Dr. Axe on oil pulling and the benefits for those who would like to check it out.
So, in this first video, Dr. Alan Mandell shares the benefits of coconut oil especially for those who have not been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, but feel their thyroid function is less than optimal. Then, for those who would like to try oil pulling, I have a guide from Dr. Axe that shares the benefits.
