Old Natural Thyroid Treatment that Doctors Hate

There is an old natural thyroid treatment that doctors hate. It’s called Armour Thyroid. In this article, Maureen McFadden shares a thyroid patients’ story about how her doctor would tell her all her thyroid levels were great! But, why couldn’t she walk or do any of the activities she enjoyed?

The author goes on to state that her doctor used an old, but rarely-used therapy that is making a comeback among patients looking for a natural solution. Hypothyroidism is often treated with synthetic human thyroid hormone, but that didn’t improve Cheryl’s energy level so Doctor Sadler tried a seldom used remedy: pig thyroid extract. Hypothyroidism is often treated with synthetic human thyroid hormone, but that didn’t improve Cheryl’s energy level so Doctor Sadler tried a seldom used remedy: pig thyroid extract. Doctors rarely prescribe the pig hormone because unlike the synthetic hormone, the concentration can vary, but it worked for Cheryl.

I have heard the arguments for years about how the concentration can vary, it’s not pure, the medication is not always available…blah, blah, blah!!! What I know is that when I take a synthetic hormone instead of Armour, I feel worse, much worse. Most doctors prefer synthetic thyroid hormones because animal thyroid pills are not purified, which means that they contain substances that aren’t naturally found in humans. While desiccated thyroid contains both T4 and T3, the balance of T4 and T3 in animals is not the same as in humans, so the hormones in animal thyroid pills aren’t necessarily “natural” for the human body. Really! The point is this: Armour contains both T4 and T3 and that’s what makes all the difference. But they completely ignore the fact that Synthroid doesn’t work for many patients They are taught in med school that’s the only prescription for low thyroid. Period.

Here’s is an example: I have a high school friend who is a pharmacist for a major hospital in Florida. She was visiting last summer and we started talking about my hypothyroidism. When I told her I was taking Armour Thyroid, I received the same negative feedback: it’s not safe, the concentration varies, only idiots take Armour and the infamous: we only prescribe Synthroid because that’s what works. All with the attitude that I have no idea of what is good for me or what works for me. It’s so frustrating, to say the least.

Here is another study stating that levothyroxine does not work very well. This study was done on older adults.

Dr. David J. Scott states: “We found that levothyroxine had no consistent beneficial effect on thyroid-related symptoms. This finding was true for both older men and older women and for different thyrotropin levels at baseline.

I’m amazed, totally amazed, Sherlock!!!! I bet they didn’t try the old natural thyroid treatment to see if that helped!
